Cube
(1998)
This
re-hashed "Twilight Zone" plot is a simple metaphor
taken to the extreme. Several people locked in a room,
in this case a cube, have to figure out why they are
there. The whole thing is a metaphor for existence on
Earth. But the filmmaker's here try to make it more
interesting and complex by adding gizmos, calculus,
geometry, blood, rape, violence, "Rainman"
and sex.
All this might be interesting but the script, which
is flimsy at best, is acted out by several of the most
lame thespians ever to grace the screen. The whole thing
was shot in Canada and released in the States by Trimark.
Enough said.
