Cannibal ferox (1980)
(AKA "Women of the Deep River" and "Let Them Die Slowly")

Cannibals eat a male penis. Cannibals eat a man's brain. Cannibals mutilate and eat a live tortoise. Cannibals mutilate and eat a baby alligator. Cannibals hang a nude woman with hooks through her tits. A cocaine sniffing white man tries to rape a native couple. And all of this is told using the worst English overdubbing imaginable. This is a classic of cinematic Velveeta. You don't get cheese like this
everyday. Yep. This is some mutherfunking Brie.

I don't know much about horror films of this type. I don't normally view them. But I think it's safe to say that this is one of the most gory and disturbing films you can ever watch. It's plot is paper-thin stupidity but the visual images are brilliantly disquieting. This elevates cinematic brutality to an artform. It's raw, aggressive and fearless. The film was released in 1980 and was Rated X in America. It was supposedly banned in over 31 countries and it is obvious why this is so. I wouldn't want anyone with a tenuous mentality to view it. It's gnarly.

Sage Stallone, Sly's son, supposedly took the 80 grand he made from appearing in "Daylight" and remastered this film for it's debut by Grindhouse Releasing. Although I am sure he will never see a financial return on his investment, it is safe to say there will be something gained in the process, in the contorted and disbelieving faces of those (mis)fortunate enough to witness the film.

Notes: I had to look around on the net to find a definition of "ferox." It is a Latin work that means "wild, warlike, unbridled, spirited, courageous, arrogant or headstrong."
