Coolest Thing I Did this Week:

Saw Hobble put on the best show I've ever seen them do at Emo's on Saturday night. I don't know if it was the mood, the venue or the fact that the boys had played a set at Emo's in Houston the night before to warm them up, but Oriah, Mike, Gene and Tom were on fire Saturday night. Mike may be a bit unusual sometimes in real life, but when he gets on stage, like Oriah, he simply lets loose and goes for it. He was rocking that night and Oriah was in rare form. He looked hot as fuck and his vocals have never sounded better and more intense. He sold those songs like they were gospel!

The boys usually play 35 minutes or so and the set seems so damn short. Well, they played about 35 minutes Saturday night and it wore me the fuck out! You could not help but get into the groove Gene and Tom were laying down. The boys opened with "8 Track Tape Player" and didn't stop through a set that included faves like "Cowboy Song," "Blackmasking," "Gene's Song (Why You Never Home)," and the phenomenal closer "Suicidal Blunder." I was in heaven.

Mike told me that he and Oriah have been working on their second video for "Yoko Ono." From what I understand, it sounded like an homage to Warhol's "Eat."

Lodger's Most Recent Poem

Adam

By eating the apple you have become Adam

You break over the threshold

Unto the vast purpleblue sky

Stiff with electricity

Your smoked soul cracks the mirror image

Breathe fire onto my island

Dark with unbearable nothingness

No wonder God is angry

You have replaced him

You have become god

Hark! Tomorrow is approaching

It has arrived

I am afraid But, at least,

far more alive than ever before

Until next time - that's a wrap Lodger2001
