Notes
from Austin Volume 3 #4 - Lodger's
Notes
"Named one of the 50 most irritating queens in media today by
Shrill's Content, Lodger founded filethirteen.com, with the
help of his friend Web, in his Austin apartment's bedroom in
1999. Since then, he has been named one of the "100 most fucked
up people in Austin" by just about anyone who has met him. He
has been a guest on ACAC's "Lube TV" and is often confused for
Roger Ebert. In addition, the website has been featured on News
8's "Websightings." He has also been profiled in the Austin
Chronicle. He is currently the co-host of "Lube TV" and enjoys
an active social life. Lodger has shot many short video films,
some of which will air on the cable program, and intends on
shooting another very shortly.

Why did Agliff, the Austin Gay Film Festival
people, pick "Reel Deal" host Corey Coleman to host their
Oscar night party? He isn't openly gay as far as I know. Aren't
there enough talented and interesting gay people in Austin?
Couldn't Agliff find someone gay in town to host the party.
Isn't there a rather large and hilarious website author and
cable access host who would be better for the job?
Seriously. I asked Scott Dinger, the Agliff Artistic Director,
via e-mail, why Coleman was hosting. Is he openly gay, I inquired.
Dinger sent the following smarmy and curt response:
"I have never questioned his sexuality so I can't comment
on that. The festival asked Korey Coleman to MC the event
because of his film background and he graciously accepted.
Being gay is not a prerequisite to work with or volunteer
for the film festival."
It isn't? Then why do we even have a fucking "gay" film
festival? Isn't it to celebrate and promote our own gayness?
Why would we ask a closeted, egotistical and, lets face it,
boring person like Coleman to host the event?
I get the "you don't have to be gay" thing about working
with Agliff. But there are several openly gay, funny, and
talented people Agliff could have asked in Austin. To slight
them and ask Coleman is a slap in the face to Austin gays.
I suppose Harry Knowles turned down the gig.
The 10 Things I Hate About Movie Patrons: by Cinemad!
1.Cell phones/pagers
2.R rating disputes
3.Unforgiving
4.Rudeness to other patrons and theater employees
5.Complain about concession prices
6.Pay for tickets with pennies, nickels and dimes
7.Haven't decided what movie to see by the time they get
to a cashier
8.Never have their money or credit card ready when purchasing
anything
9.Look at clock in the box office and ask what time it is
10.Asking for a number of tickets assuming the cashier is
psychic about what movie they want to see
I know this is a short "Notes from Austin." To be quite honest,
with my day gig, my other writing for the site, SXSW,
Lube TV and the Oscars,
I just have been to busy to keep up with this "diary" part of
the site. It may be back to normal next time, or another truncated
version, or disappear altogether. Sending me an e-mail, to lodger@filethirteen.com,
letting me know what you like and dislike about the site would
help me know a bit better where to focus my attention. Currently,
it is the unusual and special film reviews (like "Wadd")
that get the most hits. And scoop reviews of stuff like "Couching
Tiger" and "Blow"
that get visited most often. That may be where I should focus
my attention.
Until next time. .That's a wrap Lodger2001
