BARBET SCHROEDER is in talks to helm the thriller "Murder
by Numbers," with Sandra Bullock starring as an FBI agent
working her first field case.
MATTHEW MCCONAUGHEY has signed to join Christian Bale in
"Reign of Fire," the story of two dragon slayers trying to
slay a queen beast.
Austin fave LUKE WILSON, who can now be seen playing Cameron
Diaz's boyfriend in the upcoming "Charlie's
Angels," will star opposite Reese Witherspoon in the comedy
Legally Blonde.
Speaking of Wilson, GENE HACKMAN will join Ben Stiller,
Gwyneth Paltrow, Bill Murray and brothers Owen and Luke Wilson
in the ensemble comedy The Royal Tenenbaums. The film, about
a dysfunctional family, will be written and directed by Wes
Anderson.
Hal Hartley's next film will be "Monster" starring Sarah
Polley.
JADA PINKETT SMITH is in negotiations to star in the second
and third sequels to "The Matrix," opposite Keanu Reeves.
DIANE LANE is in discussions to star opposite Richard Gere
in the thriller "Unfaithful." Adrian Lyne will direct the
remake of "La Femme Infidele."
The ubiquitous HELEN HUNT will join Anne Heche and Mike
Myers in the comedy "Timepiece," about a rural woman fighting
against a nearby big city.
AL PACINO is set to play Napoleon Bonaparte in " Betsy and
the Emperor," a fictionalized story of the relationship between
Napoleon and the young daughter of his jailer during his imprisonment
on the island of St. Helena.
EWAN MCGREGOR is slated to star in the film biography of
the 1960s British pop star Billy Fury.
WOODY ALLEN has announced that "The Curse of the Jade Scorpion"
will be the title for his latest comedy starring himself,
Helen Hunt, Charlize Theron and Dan Aykroyd.
JAY ROACH, riding high of the success of "Neet the Parents,"
is in talks to direct "50 First Kisses," a romantic comedy
about a man who falls in love with a woman who suffers from
short term memory loss. Meanwhile, Universal has signed screenwriter
Jim Herzfeld to pen a sequel to "Meet the Parents," with stars
Robert DeNiro and Ben Stiller likely to return.
STEPHEN DALDRY, director of the critically acclaimed Billy
Elliot, is in talks to direct Nicole Kidman, Meryl Streep
and Julianne Moore in "The Hours," a drama based on the Pulitzer
Prize-winning novel by Michael Cunningham.
KATE HUDSON will join Heath Ledger and Wes Bentley in director
Shekar Kapur's remake of the period drama "Four Feathers."
KRISTIN SCOTT THOMAS will join Kevin Kline in the family
drama "Life as a House," with Kline playing a man who builds
the perfect house.
CHRISTINE TAYLOR will star opposite her real-life husband
Ben Stiller in the Paramount comedy "Zoolander." This is based
on a male model character Stiller created for the VH-1 "Fashion
Awards."
KATHY BATES is in talks to join Kevin Costner in "Dragonfly,"
a super-natural thriller to be directed by Tom Shadyac. Bates
recentyl shot "American Outlaws" in Austin.
SHANNON ELIZABETH, best known as the foreign student in
"American
Pie" is in talks to play the female lead in the remake
of the 1960 horror film "13 Ghosts." This is to be produced
by a film company set up by William Castle's daughter. They
recently did the remake of "House on Haunted Hill."
ROBIN WILLIAMS is in talks to star in the comedy "Death
to Smoochie" where he will play a Barney-like TV character
replaced by a blue rhinoceros named Smoochie.
JET LI will star in the supernatural thriller "The One,"
the story of a policeman who must fight his evil double from
a parallel universe. The film was to star WWF's "The Rock"
and to be called "The Rock Movie."
JON VOIGHT will join his daughter Angelina Jolie in the
cast of Paramount's action film based on the video game "Tomb
Raider."
JASON LEE is in talks to star in "Stealing Stanford," portraying
a middle-class man who turns to a life of crime in order to
finance his niece's education.
ED HARRIS will star opposite Joaquin Phoenix in the dark
comedy "Buffalo Soldiers," about a group of U.S. army men
in West Germany in 1989.
ALEC BALDWIN will make his feature film directing debut
with a contemporary version of "The Devil and Daniel Webster."
Anthony Hopkins will star in the film.
JOHN SINGLETON in final talks to direct the drama "Baby
Boy" for Columbia. The film follows a young black man who
accepts responsibility for his life.
BARRY BLAUSTEIN, director of the critically acclaimed documentary
"Beyond
the Mat," will helm the comedy "The Ringer," about two
men who plan to fix the Special Olympics.
BEACON PICTURES, the company behind "The
Hurricane," will produce "The Windshield Wiper Man," the
true story of Robert Kearns, the man who invented the intermittent
wiper.
NEW LINE will partner with Columbia on Adam Sandler's untitled
next project, which will be an updated version of Frank Capra?s
1936 classic "Mr. Deeds Goes to Town."
WARNERS has signed Never Been Kissed director Raja Gosnell
to direct the live-action version of the TV cartoon series
"Scooby-Doo."
TOYS 'R' US has signed an agreement with Amblin Entertainment
and Universal Studios to roll out a new line of toys in anticipation
of the spring 2002 release of the 20th anniver-sary edition
of director Steven Spielberg's "E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial."

Thanksgiving Weekend. Saturday, Nov. 25 2pm-midnight Sunday,

West Philly's own Lost Film Collective put the City of Brotherly
Love on the map of truly Independent Cinema when they held
their first event in Nov. 1999 by mixing underground film
and music with political activism and humor. A year later,
they've grabbed International attention in the Indie Film
Industry, Hacktivist Circles, and DIY scenes by holding a
series of sold-out major screenings. Recently this included
a 6 day long guerilla event at the Plays and Players Theater
which ran counter to the Republican National Convention read
Indiewire article. This one of a kind touring film festival
has already made appearances around the U.S. and Europe, in
it's infancy.
This will be the last big event in Philly for awhile as
the Lost Film Crew prepares for Park City and the World tour
in 2001. Lost Film Festival will threaten the status quo once
again for a whole weekend with a challenging program including
films, music, and panel discussions:
