On 8/28 The Scabbs are playing Stubbs Bar-B-Q. I didn't want to see this band until I found out Sandra Bullock has hired them to play her New Years Eve party.

I told my boss I wanted New Year's Eve and Day off - that I'd work any other holiday, Xmas and Thanksgiving... I am not ringing in the new millenium at work. Sorry. I'll quit before I do that.

There is a gay and lesbian film festival coming up in Austin. There are some films to be shown that I would like to see including "Speedway Junkie" (with JTT!) "Trick," "Adventures of Sebastian Cole," and "Better than Chocolate," but the real draw is JOHN WATERS live and in person on 9/2... I will be there come hell or high WATERS! See www.agliff.org

I don't have spell check on my stupid Windows Wordpad, so if my spelling sucks sorry.

8/18 - Went tonight to what I thought would be a cheap performance of a play here in Austin called "The Mystery of Irma Vep." It's a two man show with 8 characters and the players do some roles in drag. (Kinda like a gothic "Greater Tuna") It's $20 to see this so I thought this was a cheap $5 night benefit for Austin's Gay and Lesbian Independant Film Festival (hereafter refered to as Agliff). I got there and the things turns out to be a "soiree" sponsered by the Austin Chronicle. $5 to get in or free if you place a personal ad. I paid the $5 and stood around for an hour waiting for the play, not knowing anyone and, of course, feeling incredible slef-concious. Then when we get in to see the play, they say it will be a "portion" of the play. It turned out to be the first 20 minutes of what seems like an excellent, campy, funny show. But I was still pissed. Afterwards they gave out door prizes and guess whose name got called first. Yep - me. I got some weird t-shirt. Then, afterwards, I bought my membership to Agliff for the year. For $25 you get to buy tickets to the festival before the general public. I will be on line early Friday morning to buy my tickets to John Waters. He better be there - and not live via satelitte or something.

8/19 - Previewed "Universal Soldier 2." I thought it was really good cheese, making jumps into spectacular insanity. I mean, one minute Van Damme and his obvious love interest are in a burning building, and the next there in a car driving down the street. And the dialogue, beautiful, ethereal cheese. Then, suddenly, we realized the film had been put together wrong, reels 3 and 4 were reversed. It took us 3 hours to fix it and see it all in sequence, where it suddenly lost all it's eclectic charm. This thing is the biggest piece of shit you can pay money to see this year! Got home at 4:30am

8/20 - Set my alarm for 8:30 to get up and buy tickets to the John Waters apperance at agliff. Kept re-setting it and finally woke up at 10:30am. Started kicking myself for allowing myself to oversleep. I got up, drove to Dobie Mall, where the agliff box office is, and found myself 5th in line for the 11am opening. Waited and talked to some nice people including a volunteer for the group. We had a good time waiting about 20 minutes for them to open. When we got in, I got my membership card (I paid $25 so I could buy my tix early), and a bag of free goodies. I got my tickets to John Waters ($10 a pop for a member) and a ticket to "Speedway Junkie," one of the gay films showing starring JTT! Weeeee....

8/21 - After work, went out with my friend Krissa who is going to UT this fall. Went to dinner with her and our friend Greg, who helped her move, and her mom and dad. Went to Threadgills. Our friend Flea met us there. Then we went to see Krissa's dorm. It was insane! The size of a walk-in closet and yet two people are going to stay there! She hadn't met her roommate yet but they seem like total opposites in some ways! Krissa decorated her half of the closet in Pooh stuff while her roomate has a Hawaiian theme. It looked like Walt Disney threw up in there! Good luck Krissa. Afterwards, we went to Flea's and I met more of her cool friends. We played a shot game with cards called "Knights of the Round Table" or something. I drank them all under the table! They don't know me!
