Hello from Austin!
Well, I've been here 2 days and haven't done much. Last night
(Thur) I went to the Dobie just to be sure they weren't showing
"The Blair Witch Project" at 12 mid that night - they
weren't. They are showing it on 3 screens (started today - Fri)
and I'm going to see it soon.
Then I went and walked down 6th street. Even on Thursday night,
it's packed! The local alternative station (KROX
101fm) was broadcasting live from a place called Spiro's
so I thought it would be a cool alt_rock club - instead it was
a "gentlemans club" without the topless girls - just
a lot of pompous people smoking cigars and drinking fruity drinks
while pretty girls waited on them in very plush surroundings
- this pissed me off so much that I didnt even go anywhere else.
(They advertised 3 cover and 2 well - I paid 4 cover and 4.25
for a well) Then I went to HEB and bought some paper plates
and cups and some groceries.
Slept late Friday and didn't do much but got my mailbox key
from the apartment manager and bought a paper to se if my
theater was showing "Eyes Wide Shut" (we are). Went
to my new theater at 4 and met my new coworkers... they all
seem nice. Worked with the ushers from 4-11 - my feet freaking
hurt...
As soon as I get a phone cord, I'll hook up to the net and
send this message
You'all better call or write soon. This still feels like
a vacation and not a permenant change - it's weird
See ya soon!
