Austin Film Festival 2003 - Film Reviews

In America - We love these characters and we want to see them succeed.

The Barbarian Invasions - This is a film that I just didn't get.

Off the Map - A wholly engrossing, totally beautiful, amazing and unique film.

Charlie: The Life and Art of Charles Chaplin - I cannot imagine a more comprehensive biographical documentary about Chaplin.

Mystic River - Ahard film to watch.

Shattered Glass - Fascinating and writer/director Bill Ray really makes it easy for us to follow the ideas expressed here.

Inner and Outer Space - One of the most important of Warhol's films because it is one of the closest film approximations to his portraits.

Elf - Is funny consistently throughout.

Mario Banana - So short and so typical.

Poor Little Rich Girl - Warhol's camera captured what his mind, his eyes captured in the same real/reel time.

A Promise Kept - A horrible, badly filmed, badly acted, and badly written film that has so many bad ideas per second it nearly sets a record.

Greendale - Neil Young shows that he is still as vital and as interesting as he was in the 60's.

Prey for Rock and Roll - Don't pray for this movie. it's not worth it.

Bukowski: Born into This - Even though my ass got sore sitting through the film at a small, underground venue in Austin, I never once lost interest in the story.

Pieces of April - Could become a Thanksgiving film for the post-apocalyptic age.

Particles of Truth - An interesting film that is often torn asunder by its typical ideas and its vehement hatred of men.
