Austin
Film Festival 2001 Day 8 - October 18, 2001!
Went to "Twelve"
at the Dobie. The projection sucked. There was a big green spot
on the screen the entire time, as they were screening using
digital projection. Jason tried to fix it but couldn't. The
film was so shaky and experimental anyway that the green spot
almost became a part of the experience.
I was really tired and filmed-out, so I was going to go
home. I didn't stay for the "Twelve" director's Q&A. I was
kinda pissed because the program did not say "filmmaker in
attendance" for this screening and I didn't bring my camera.
That will teach me.
I saw Courtney and Kim of AFF outside in the lobby and we
talked a lot. I haven't really had a chance to talk to Kim
much before and I asked her more about herself. She also works
with SXSW in the interactive
showcase. And she may move to L.A. next year. She's so sweet.
Her and Courtney both gave me a big hug. Girls love the Lodgey.
Hehehe... Went by the Paramount and saw Kelly. I owed him
some money so I had to stop by. He was just getting off work
and we sat on a park bench on Congress and it was such a beautiful
night. I snapped that I was in Austin - on Congress - two
blocks from the capitol, its lighted facade a beacon of the
city. It was a reminder of how great it is to live here, how
happy I am here, how much my life has changed in the two short
years I've been here. I'm in heaven.
I met a real cutie named Dylan who is a house manager for
The State Theater and The Paramount. He was really cool too.
We sat, talked, and basked in the perfect weather of an Austin
night in October.
Heaven.
